BJP to press for SIT probe into tender fixing in State

Bhubaneswar, March 14: BJP would press for a SIT probe into the tender fixing cases. Briefing reporters after a joint meeting of the BJP Legislature Party and the newly elected office bearers.

A spokesman said the party would make potato crisis, drinking water, power problem, farmers suicide and ration card scam in the State, issues in the budget session of Assembly starting from March 15.

With police going deeper into the escapades of the notorious Dhalsamant brothers, tender fixing in important departments of the State government has come to the fore.

Hence, the party will demand SIT probe into tender fixing as many important and highly placed functionaries are likely to be involved in the racket, said Pradip Purohit.

Party will soon start agitation from the Panchayat level to highlight all these issues, he said adding that BJP would not only take the Government to task in the Assembly, it would take it on but outside also.

The combined meeting of the legislators and party functionaries was held at the party office here on Sunday to finalise party’s strategy for the ensuing Budget Session.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and other central leaders were also present in the meet.

The failure of the Potato Commission government formed last year shall figure prominently while raking up the impending crisis of this important kitchen ingredient, said Party president Basant Panda who is also the leader of Legislature group.   As many as seven out of the 10 BJP MLAs were present in today’s meet.
