Blast in Maharashtra Ordnance Factory

Bhandara: There has been an accident of blast at Ordnance factory in Maharashtra in the morning hours of Friday. The blast took place in Bhandara district of Maharashtra.

According to reports, the rescue and medical teams have been deployed for survivors and the rescue operation is underway. The exact number of trapped people is yet to be known. The Public Relations Officer (PRO) Defence Nagpur has informed about the blast and the rescue operations that are underway.

Collector Bhandara Sanjay Kolte told ANI, “after the accident(al) blast in (the) Ordnance Factory (in) Jawahar Nagar Bhandara, firefighters and ambulances have been dispatched to the spot, rescue operation is currently underway.”

The Collector had informed, “A roof has collapsed which is being removed with the help of JCB.” It has been further reported that, a total of 12 people are reported to be (stuck) there, out of which two people have been rescued.

On blast in Ordnance Factory at Bhandra, the Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis told ANI, “There are reports that 13 to 14 workers were trapped after the roof collapsed in the explosion in Ordanace factory in Bhandara district. According to the preliminary information received so far, unfortunately, one worker has died. 5 workers have been safely evacuated. The District Collector and the Superintendent of Police are at the spot and all kinds of help are being provided.”

He further added, “SDRF and Nagpur Municipal Corporation teams have also been called for rescue operations and they will arrive soon. The district administration is involved in rescue operations in coordination with the defence forces. Teams have also been kept ready for medical assistance. I pay my heartfelt tributes to the one person who has lost his life in the incident.”
