Bhubaneswar, Feb 8: The Private Lecturers Association in State has threatened to hit the streets next week if their demands were met by the State government at an early date.

The teaching and non-teaching staff belonging to the 488 Category Block Grant College Association and All-Odisha 662 Category Lecturers’ and Employees’ Association said they will stage protest from February 9 if their demands were not met by then. Secretary of All-Odisha 662 Category Lecturers’ And Employees’ Association Golak Nayak said on Saturday that the government should take away block grant system from higher education and bring all staff under the pay roll. “We have been demanding this for quite some time but the government has failed to do any thing in this regard excepting giving us fake promises.”

All staff of 488 Category Block Grant Colleges will stage dharna at Lower PMG here from February 9 for an indefinite period, Nayak said. They also threatened to boycott evaluation of Plus II and Plus III examination papers.
