Bhubaneswar: June 16: Yet again, a sign of self-seeking seen on the part of the authorities when it came into the favor of the poor. It is alleged that Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor K. Shanti allocated names of five of her relatives in the beneficiaries list under the Rajiv Awas Yojana Housing scheme.This accusation has been put forth by the BJP State Unit at a Press Conference on Wednesday.
As stated by the BJP leaders, the deputy mayor has cornered houses under the Mahisakhala Scheme to her son, husband, sister, brother and uncle. Refuting to the allegations, the mayor reportedly commented the charges to be baseless; according to her the opponent party must be in her shoes, get information about the entire scenario and then make conclusions.
Adding to this, she said that she had been a resident of the Mahisakhala Slum and besides that the names of her and her husband were already mentioned in the survey been conducted in 2004.
