BMC Guidelines For Shivaratri Celebration At Lingaraj Temple

Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued a set of guidelines for the celebration of the festival of Maha Shivaratri at the Lingaraj Temple. It has allowed celebration of Shivaratri in a restricted manner.
As per the guidelines issued, devotees will not be allowed for ‘shahanamela’ darshan and entry into the sanctum sanctorum of the 11th century Lingaraj Temple.
Devotees can have darshan of Lord Lingaraj from Aada Katha only. But, they can not offer Puja at Aada Katha.

The temple authorities shall ensure that, only that many devotees are allowed inside the temple premises so that social distancing of 6 feet is maintained at all times. Also devotees have to wear mask s appropriately. Provision of hand washing/hand sanitization for devotees will be ensured by the temple authorities.
Servitors will perform all rituals on the day with strict adherence to Covid appropriate behavior and devotees have to maintain a social distance of 6 feet from the servitors.
People with SARI/ ILI like symptoms shall not be allowed to the temple.
Other vulnerable group of people such as persons with co-morbidities, elderly persons, pregnant women and children below 12 years of age have been advised to avoid the event.
