Bhubaneswar, Nov 8: After the body of veteran Congress leader Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohaptra aka Lulu Mohapatra arrived at Bhubaneswar on Monday evening, it was taken to the State Assembly and Congress Bhavan today morning. MLAs, Congress Party leaders including Prasad Harichandan, PCC President offered their last tribute to the departed soul.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also visited the residence of Lulu Mohapatra today morning to offer his last prayer.
The body was later taken to Mohapatra’s native place Gada Rodanga in Puri where the last rites would be performed. As per sources, Mohapatra’s only daughter Upasana would lit the funeral pyre of the late leader.
Notably, Mohapatra was suffering from Liver Cirrhosis and was under treatment in Medanta Hospital since last three weeks. His condition deteriorated after 7.30 pm on Sunday and finally, he breathed his last around 10 pm the same day. Born on February 14, 1964, Mohapatra was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly from Brahmagiri Assembly constituency in the year 1995, 2000 and 2004.
