Tokyo: August 4: Boxer Lovlina Borgohain clinched a Bronze medal after she lost her welterweight semifinal bout to Turkey’s Busenaz Surmeneli on Wednesday.

She is the third Indian Athlete at the Tokyo Olympics after weightlifter Mirabai Chanu and PV Sindhu to clinch a medal.

Lovlina had already assured India of its first boxing medal from the Tokyo Olympics when she defeated former world champion and fourth seed Chen Nien-Chin of Chinese Taipei 4-1 in the quarterfinals.

Lovlina became the third boxer to win a medal at the Olympics for India. Earlier, Vijender got Bronze in 2008 Olympics and MC Mary Kom’ in 2012 Olympics.

The 23 year old Lovlina is from Golaghat district of Assam.
