Bhubaneswar, Feb 19: The budget session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly will commence from March 15, according to a notification issued by the parliamentary affairs department.

The sixth session of the 15th Assembly would be held in two phases, the notification said.

While the first phase of the session would be held from March 15 to March 31, the second phase would be held from April 26 till the conclusion of the session on May 20.

Governor S C Jamir would deliver the opening address on the first day.

Assembly secretariat sources said the budget session will have 33 working days. The annual budget would be presented in the House on March 18, the notification said.

The state Finance Minister will introduce the regular budget after the Union budget is approved in Parliament.

As the revenue-sharing pattern with the state has changed after formation of the NITI Aayog, the state government is planning to prepare the budget after knowing the exact allocations made by the Centre under different schemes.

The state will place an appropriation bill to be passed in the assembly for two months before March 31. A regular budget for the remaining 10 months will be sent to the standing committee and its comments submitted by April 25, state finance minister Pradip Kumar Amat said.
