As per the notification of Election Commissioner of India (ECI), by-election for the Pipili assembly constituency will be held simultaneously with two other Constituencies of West Bengal on September 30 this year. Election Commissioner of India (ECI) announced on Saturday.
Notification said, the Commission has also decided to hold polls in 3 Assembly Constituencies namely 56-Samserganj, 58- Jangipur of West Bengal and 1 Assembly Constituency 110-Pipli of Odisha where the adjourned poll was deferred vide Commission’s notification 4th May, 2021.
As per the notification, the counting of votes will be held on October 3, 2021. It has been directed by ECI to complete the election process by October 5, 2021.
The by-poll was necessitated due to the death of the sitting MLA Pradeep Maharathy on October 4 due to Covid-19.
By-election was scheduled to be held on April 17. But, it was postponed following the death of Congress candidate Ajit Mangaraj due to Covid-19.
