Jajpur, Dec 30: In a tragic road mishap near Gania Tehsil office in Nayagarh, two women were killed, while 4 others sustain serious injuries after a car ran over them earlier today.
Identified as sister-in-laws in relation, the deceased along with 4 other women were returning home after harvesting paddy, when the incident took place. According to reports, a car over speeding in the route, ran over six of them killing two on the spot while four others sustained critical injuries and were rushed to the Nayagarh DHH.
Police have detained the driver for questioning and have seized the vehicle.
In a rebellious mood the locals in the area staged a road-block following the incident, demanding compensation for the families.
