Cash for vote: BJD alleges BJP for using money for votes

Bhubaneswar, Feb 21: Alleging the BJP, the BJD on Monday said that BJP has been utilizing money power to influence voters during the panchayat polls. The BJP leaders of Jharkhand and Chattisgarh are distributing cash among the voters of western Odisha, added the BJD.

In this regard, the BJD on February 15th had filed a complaint at the State Election Commission (SEC). BJD spokesperson Pratap Deb today said that the allegations have turned out to be true. He also pointed out the incident where the police had recovered hard cash and seized a Chhattisgarh vehicle from Kalahandi and Nabarangpur districts earlier on Monday. The cops, in this regard, have detained a person, who is said to be a friend of a Chhattisgarh BJP leader.

On the reply to the allegations made by BJD, BJP spokesperson took out the incident of BJD leader Sarada Nayak who has been detained twice for distributing money in Rourkela. He further added, that BJD is trying to put the blame on BJD for its lavish defeat in the present elections.
