Catholic Church condemned killing incident and demanded justice for victims

Bhubaneswar, July 15: On the demand of justice for the victims’ families who were killed in cross fire between Security Personnel and Maoist, the Catholic Church in Odisha on Thursday condemned the incident.

Arch Bishop, John Barwa SVD, Arch Bishop of Cuttack-Bhubaneswar on behalf of the Catholic Church in Odisha in his statement condemned the killing of five innocent tribal in Kandhamal districts.

By calling this incident as unfortunate and uncalled, he also expressed his empathy towards the family members of the civilians on July 8. They also sought for justice and compensation for the victims by the government.

Notably, in a miserable incident, five villagers, including three women and a baby, had been killed during a combing operation by the security forces near Gumudumaha village in Kandhamal district last night.
