Bhubaneswar, Nov 18: A Central team of the Ministry of Human Resources Development (HRD) visited the silk city on Tuesday to inspect the suitability of locations, which the Odisha government had chosen for the proposed Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER).
The team comprised HRD director Sonavli Kawli, IISER Bhopal Director Vinod Kumar Singh and IIT Bhubaneswar Director RV Rajkumar among others.
The team assessed the required infrastructure, communication facilities and other amenities which are must for a premier institute like IISER.
The State government had identified 200 acre of land each at Palur Hills and Laudigaon as probable sites for establishment of the permanent campus of the elite science institute.
Moreover, the team also visited the proposed temporary campuses for the institute at Gandhi Institue and BSET. Earlier, the team met the Southern region RDC and other officials at Berhampur.
According to sources, the classes at the institute are all set to start from the next session.
