Central team reported declining rate of dengue cases

Keonjhar, July 18: A declining rate of dengue cases in the Kandhamal district is being observed as reported by the Central Government’s six member team who had come to assist in the prevention of dengue in Keonjhar district on Monday.

On praising the district administration and the Health department’s efforts towards dengue, Dr Gagan Singh Sonal, the head of the central team said that more people have been found coming for check-ups, after the awareness programme in the community has gone up and also has advised to follow the guidelines and preventive instructions given by the doctors and Health department to free place form Aedas mosquito.

He also visited several wards in the Barbil CHC. On the basis of the blood sample test conducted at the Barbil Community Health Centre, out of 2229 blood samples, 723 have been tested as positive, while a steady rise of dengue patients upto 150 patients, have been recorded in the SCB medical college and Hospital.
Till now 157 patients are likely to be admitted in the hospital. Among them 10 have been admitted in the ICU of which six are from Cuttack, two from Jajpur and one each from Kendrapara and Puri districts, informed Dr Bhubananada Maharana , Emergency Officer of the SCB Medical College. Keeping in the mind about the rising number of dengue patients, the number of beds has been increased to 175, sources said.
Meanwhile, intensive awareness and sanitation campaign are being organized in the city by the Cuttack Municipal Corporation. Regarding this, a meeting was held in the presence of the Mayor, Commissioner, Health staffs and sweepers. ASHA and Anganwadi workers have been conducting campaigns to create awareness regarding dengue and its prevention and emphasis has been given on the ward-wise sensitization programme, said Ranjan Biswal, Chairman of Public Health CMC to media parsons.
