Central team visits IISER site in Ganjam

Ganjam, Jan 8: To finalise the location for the construction of both permanent and temporary campuses of the the proposed Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), central team from Union HRD Ministry visited Berhampur today.

This was second visit to the proposed site which was identified by the state government.

The State government had identified 200 acres of land in Palur Hills and 80 acres of land in Lauding village as probable sites for establishment of the permanent campus for the supreme institute.

The team is scheduled to visit three other locations, which the State government had identified for setting up the temporary campus of the institute.

On November 17, 2015, a five-member central team led by HRD Director had visited Palur Hills and Lauding village.

The Central team’s visit to the district is important as the classes of IISER in Berhampur are scheduled to start from this academic year.
