Charge sheet against Sastra Enterprise Chief lodged by CBI

Bhubaneswar, July 20: By charging a fraud case, on Wednesday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) submitted a charge sheet against V. Sampath, the Chief of Sastra Enterprise and the Company on charges of fraud. Lodged in the Bargarh jail, Sampath was arrested by the CBI in May 2013 from Chennai.

According to the investigation and raid, done earlier by the central investigation agency at office of the Chennai headquarter company including Odisha, by its various branches spread over Odisha in Balsaore, Bhadrak and Mayurbhanj, the company had collected money and defraud more than Rs 150 crore. Depositors of another chit-fund company, Green India had demonstrated a dharna in front of the CBI office thus demanding the confiscation of the properties of the company, along with arrest of its other officials and also the refund of the deposited amount.

In December 2014, the CBI filed its first charge sheet against Green India charging it of frauding depositors for Rs. 30 crore. Green India CEO, Pradeep Singh and directors, Sunil Panda and Jitendra Mishra were named in the charge sheet submitted in the court.
