Chicken tested negative, died due to heavy cold; bird and crow in zoo tested positive in Rourkela, Odisha; Fisheries and Animal Husbandry secretary

Bhubaneswar/Rourkela, Jan 2: Fisheries and Animal Husbandry secretary Bishnupada Sethy said today that in Rourkela, the chickens have been tested negative for the avian flu but in a zoo, a bird and a crow in Panposh here, have been tested positive for the same. In Keonjhar a lab report confirmed that a chicken had died due to heavy cold. Similarly, the chickens died of Ranikhet disease in Bhadrak.

In the meantime, a task force meet presided by Rourkela ADMO was held where the officials of the Forest, Animal Husbandry and other administrations were present. Also, two animal experts also arrived in Rourkela for reviewing the situation. These experts would visit the affected areas and make people aware of the disease. Further, the administration has also shut the IG Park for an indefinite period of time after the detection of virus there. The rapid response team is being trained to control the avian flu.
