BHUBANESWAR, SEPT 24: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today felicitated Odia sprinter Dutee Chand, who brought laurels for the State by winning three gold medals in the recently concluded 55th National Open Athletic Championship in Kolkata.
Congratulating Dutee for her outstanding performance, the Chief Minister assured her of all possible assistance for the upcoming Olympics at Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
Dutee had bagged three gold medals in 100m, 200m and 4X100m relay race in the 55th National Open Athletic Championship held at SAI Complex in Kolkata.
Dutee thanked Patnaik for supporting her in the legal battle after she was banned from participating in the 2014 Commonwealth Games at Glasgow after tests had shown high level of naturally occurring testosterone in her body.
Later, the Court of Arbitration for Sports cleared her, saying natural level of testosterone in an athlete’s body is not a reason to ban women from competing.
