Malkangiri, June 7: In a shocking incident, the Maoist Malkangiri Division Secretary Punam Chand writing to the media today has stated that the maoist commander of AOBSZC’s Kalimela Dalam who was shot dead on June 3 was tortured by the Malkangiri police for about 5 days before killing him.
Chand in his letter, demanding a probe into the commander’s death has said that Malkangiri SP Mitrabhanu Mahapatra along with former maoist leader Sukadeba had tortured Chinnabai aka Nagesh Rao following to his surrender. Mentioning the police encounter to be a fake one, Chand has stated that the maoist leader was murdered.
However, SP Mahapatra has denied the allegations made by Chand and has said that Chand’s claim is a regular affair, it’s almost like the old wine in a new bottle.
On the other hand, Maoist couple Surya & Malati of Baipariguda Dalam, carrying a reward of Rs 9 lakh on their heads, have surrendered with the SP early today.
