CM announces financial grant for Sital Sasthi

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday announced a financial grant of Rs 50 lakh for the promotion and preservation of Sital Sasthi Yatra 2025.

Taking to his X handle, Majhi informed that the Rs 50 lakh financial grant will be provided from the Chief Minister’s own fund to celebrate the Sital Sasthi Yatra in a grand manner.

“Sital Sasthi Yatra’ is a unique messenger of our culture and tradition. To make the Sital Sasthi Yatra,’ which is a traditional wedding ceremony of Deba Deba Mahadeba and Mata Parbati, even more grand, the Chief Minister has announced a financial grant of Rs. 50 lakhs from his own funds for its promotion and preservation. In a government of the people, folk traditions will be honoured, and Odia Ashmita will be glorious,” he said in the post.

Earlier this month, the state government had sanctioned a financial grant of Rs 1.8 crore for celebration of Sital Sasthi Yatra in western Odisha including Sambalpur city and nearby areas. The fund would be distributed among 21 committees involved in organising the divine marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati which is slated to begin from May 31 this year and conclude on June 2.
