Cold Wave Grips Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The minimum temperature at night has dropped below 15 degree Celsius in 33 cities of Odisha. At some place the severe cold wave has brought down the temperature to as low as 5.2°C.

The Meteorological Centre has predicted that the minimum temperature will remain below 15°C in the next 48 hours.

According to reports, G. Udayagiri was the coldest place with minimum temperature of 5.2°C at night. Meanwhile, Semiliguda and Phulbani each recorded a temperature of 9°C. Mercury has aslo dropped at other places including Rourkela (7.2°C), Kirei (8.8°C), and Daringbadi (10°C).

The Sundargarh and Jharsuguda districts have received a cold wave alert. No change in minimum temperature is foreseen in the next three days. However, day temperatures might increase by 3-5°C from today.

Meanwhile, some places in Lamataput have seen the first snowfall of the season as temperatures are below 4°C. The area remains shrouded in dense fog that reduces visibility to 10 meters till 10amin the morning. Vehicular movement from Lamataput to Jaypur and Visakhapatnam is getting hampered because of the weather conditions.
