Berhampur, March 10: The Berhampur Sub-divisional Judicial Magistrate Wednesday granted five day remand of former Sankhemundi legislator Ramesh Jena for questioning.
The police had prayed for 14 day’s remand of Jena but were allowed only five days.
Jena is facing charges under Arms Act. Notably, Jena and four others, including the father of the former MLA were sent to Berhampur Circle Jail after their bail petitions were rejected by the local court.
The police, however, did not seek remand for Jena’s father Arkhit Jena and three of his associates – Jagat Behera, Prem Chand Panda alias Bapi and Ram Padhy alias Jacky, who were also arrested along with Jena.
