Cost effective high- tech treatment in 30 districts through PPP mode

Bhubaneswar, Feb 10: The Health Department has signed a MoU with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) for assistance on the ground level infrastructure development on establishment of high-tech yet low cost hospitals through PPP mode in rural and semi-urban areas.

A high level meeting regarding the project was held at the Secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary, Aditya Prasad Padhi.

While the Project head Pradip Kumar Jena said as low and middle class families suffer from heavy cost burden by coming to big cities for treating dreaded diseases, affordable yet very effective treatment will be made available to all people especially low and middle class families throughout the 30 districts of the State through this project .

“We have signed a MoU in this regard with IFC which will help in providing the consultancy to the investing companies, Request for Proposal (RFP) and other tender process related technical assistance,” Jena said.

“100-150 bed based hospitals with high-tech equipment for treatment, will be established in phase wise. In first phase 10-12 hospitals will be tendered and within 12 months the construction would be completed,”

Other officials like Development Commissioner-cum-ACS and S, Planning and Coordination Department R.Balakrishnan, Health Secretary Arati Ahuja, Forest and Environment Department Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, IFC Global Head  Emmanuel Nyirinkindi, Country Head Jhun Jhang were also present in the meeting.
