Cracker factory explosion in Nayagarh; CM announces compensation, free medical treatment

Bhubaneswar, Sept 24: Expressing his deep condolences to the victims, the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced Rs 2 lakh compensation for kin of each deceased who lost their life in the cracker factory explosion in Tanti Sahi of Itamati in Nayagarh on Friday.

He also announced that the medical treatment of the injured would be provided free of cost and the State Government would bear the medical expenses.

Reportedly, at around 5 pm yesterday evening, the cracker factory caught fire which led to an explosion. After getting information, police reached the spot and began the investigation. However, the reason behind the explosion is yet to be discovered.

Meanwhile, the owner of the factory has been detained by the police for questioning.
