Bhubaneswar, Sept 22: The Odisha government has initiated the reduction in the stamp duty for registration of house or land bought in the name of a woman to 4 percent from 5 percent. Earlier, 5 percent of the total value of the land or building was paid as stamp duty by woman.
As per a release by the Chief Minister’s Officer here on Wednesday, the revised stamp duty will also be applicable in case of transfer of movable assets as gift. The release also added that revised stamp duty will help in the betterment of women’s groups.
Notably, the Odisha government introduced the new policy of reducing the stamp duty for woman as per the Orissa State Policy for Girls and Women 2014.
