Bhubaneswar: Feb 21: Jagadananda, former State Information Commissioner and Mentor and Co-founder, CYSD, met the Governor of Odisha to update him on the findings of the Odisha Vikash Conclave with respect to tribal development. Joining him were Shri.Jayadev Dakua, CYSD and Shri.Y.Giri Rao, Vasundhara. The Odisha Vikash Conclave was organized in September 2016 in Bhubaneswar, after its formal inauguration by Shri Arvind Panagariya, Vice Chairman, Niti Aayog, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister, Petroleum and Natural Gas, GoI and Shri Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, former Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Odisha. The objective of the conclave was to create an opportunity for meaningful collaboration and synergy between the Government, Civil Society Organizations, corporate houses, research institutions and the donor communities. This process that started with the conclave will be continued on an annual basis and one of the key outcomes would be the Odisha Vikash Report, highlighting the development scenario in the state and scope for improvement.
Presenting the report on tribal development in Odisha to the Governor, the team said that the discussion in the tribal track mainly focused on three broad areas namely Tribal Livelihoods, Tribal Land Rights and FRA and Tribal Development Administration. The team also presented the recommendations for tribal development as emerged from the conclave.“It’s a very good initiative, said the Governor”. He also added that he would invite all those involved in this process for another round of meeting on Tribal Development.The convener of Odisha Vikash Conclave, Centre for Youth and Social Development (CYSD) is a 35-year-old development organization in the state working for the cause of the poor people, particularly the tribal.
