Cuttack, Feb 9: The Court of sub-divisional judicial magistrate has allowed Commissionerate Police to take in remand the Dhalsamant gangster brothers for five more days. The police had earlier taken the brothers duo on seven-day remand.

Sources said police have got vital leads into the mysterious disappearance of Dipu Mallick, one of the henchmen and sharp shooters of the Dhalasamants’ gang, since 2013 during interrogation of the duo. DCP Sanjeev Arora said police have detained some persons suspecting their involvement with the Dhalasamant brothers and raids are on at several places to trace their other associates. The documents seized by the police from an apartment at Vishakhapatnam reveals that the gangsters were having business with a Vizag-based company.

Besides, the two brothers were fixing tenders on behalf of the Ramki company, to which the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) has outsourced its cleaning work. “We have identified the political leaders and CMC officials involved in the fixing. We will interrogate them very soon,” the DCP said.
