Bhubaneswar: January 24: Dialogues, discussions, arguments, debates on the date of by-election finally end on Tuesday as the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the dates for by-election in Bijepur Assembly Constituency of Odisha which was necessitated by the death of Congress MLA Subal Sahu.
As per the notification issued by ECI, voting will be held on February 24 while the counting and results will be declared on February 28.
A Gazette Notification in this regard will be issued on January 30.
As per the schedule, while the last date for filing nomination is February 6 while the candidates can withdraw their candidatures by February 9.
With the announcement of the dates the Model Code of Conduct has now come into force with immediate effect.
It is to be noted, since last few days BJD and Congress had been questioning regarding the delay in notification for Bijepur by-election by the Election of India.
