Dhenkanal, Feb 6: Today the BJP has called for a 12-hour bandh here in protest of the murder of their party activist, Salaman Rout. As a result all transportation has been stopped. Offices, shops schools, colleges and industries have also been shut down. However, after police intervention heavy vehicles including trucks are seen plying on NH-55. On account of precautionary measure, the cops have arrested Rudra Narayan Pani, Krushna Chandra Patra and several other party activists. To avoid any unwanted situation here, several police personnel have been deployed at the town. The district administration, sensing trouble, has also pressed five platoons of force into service in Tarabha village where section 144 prevailing as prohibitory order has been kept in force.
On Friday, Salman Rout had sustained bullet injuries at the DHH here after being shot during poll-violence in Tarabha village. In connection to this, the cops yesterday arrested Byomokesh Biswal, a jawan of Odisha State Armed Police (OSAP) who happens to be the prime accused in this murder.
