Malkangiri, June 5: The dead body of the maoist commander, who was shot dead in an encounter between the police and the rebels on the wee hours of Saturday in Kapatuti forest near the Odisha-Andhra border, was handed over to his family today after completing necessary formalities.
The family of the Maoist commander Chinnabai, belonging to Andhra Pradesh, had met the Malkangiri SP today and requested for the collection of his dead body.
Notably, in a heavy exchange of fire between the police and the ultras early on Saturday, a maoist commander was killed in Kapatuti forest near the Odisha-Andhra border. The operation was launched on the night of Friday after getting a tip about the presence of the ultras in the area. Two teams of security personnel led by the Malkangiri SP exchanged fire with the ultras in which Chinnabai, the maoist commander of AOBSZC’s Kalimela Dalam was shot dead.
