Bhawanipatna, Jan 20: Late last night two youths died and two others were critically injured due to asphyxiation upon the inhaling of diesel-powered generator set fumes while sleeping in a closed room at Gokalama village under Thuamul Rampur police limits. The corpses of the deceased, who were Ranjan Reli, a resident of Saisuruni and Dhukulu Naik of Postiguda, were brought out of the closed room by the villagers after they broke the door today morning. The two other injured were also brought out named Pradeep Majhi and Sisira Majhi. It’s stated that Ranjan and Dhukulu had slept in the room accompanied by Pradeep and Sisira while shutting the windows and door after a marriage feast at the village got over. Unfortunately, the four youths had slept in the room which had the generator set that too in a running mode for lighting purposes at the marriage function. Gokalama being one of the remote areas in Kalahandi, has no electricity facilities. Hence, the villagers had hired the diesel-powered generator for the marriage ceremony. As of now, the two injured youths are being shifted to the Burla hospital for better treatment. After getting information, the Gunupur police arrived at the spot and started investigating.
