Bhubaneswar: September 29: A court in the Mahabubabad district of Telangana sentenced a young man to death for abduction and murdering a nine-year-old boy almost two years ago. The court found Manga Sagar, an automobile mechanic, guilty of murder and sentenced him to death.

According to the prosecution, the accused kidnapped the minor Kusuma Deekshith Reddy in Mahabubabad town on October 18, 2020, to make some quick money.

He had throttled the victim to death and later set the corpse on fire to destroy the evidence.

Deekshith Reddy, son of vernacular media writer Ranjith Reddy, was abducted from outside his home in Mahabubabad municipality.

According to the police, since Sagar knew Ranjith Reddy, the lad approached Sagar when the suspect called him. Sagar took the child to a hillock after forcing him to mount his bicycle. Three hours later, he murdered the boy out of concern that he would reveal his identity if released.

Even after murdering the boy, the suspect made VOIP calls to the victim’s family demanding Rs. 45 lakh ransom in an attempt to mislead investigators.
