Defunct toll gate on NH-16 at Ganagapada in Khurda, Odisha demands to demolished for being threat to commuters

Khurda, Apr 13: The NHAI toll plaza at Gangapada here has been considered as defunct as it poses threat to the travelers traveling on the National Highway 16 but the District Administration is not taking any kind of action to demolish the highway. The heavy vehicles face a lot of problems while travelling on the highway as they need to slow down their speed in order to pass through the toll gates or else there is a chance to face accidents as the vehicles are not properly visible from a distance. Also, the check gates are in a battered condition. The concerning matters related to it is that the toll gates of that area has now become the safe heavens for the miscreants who extort money from the passengers and also engage in alcoholism, gambling and loot. Local residents have demanded that the toll gate should be removed rightaway. On the other hand, the District Administration has assured that they will take necessary actions regarding this matter. Niranjan Sahu, Khurda Collector said that he has already informed the NHAI about this situation after which they have agreed to demolish the toll gate and the shops which have come up will also not be allowed to function from there.
