New Delhi, Dec 30: Transport Minister Gopal Rai has rubbished all reports of a dry run of the Odd-Even formula on December 30. The dry run is only for buses (to see if they are in working condition) but not for cars.
He did, however, confirm that there would be a rehearsal of the Formula on December 31 from 9 am to 11 am only by the Coordination Committe.
The Committee consists of Delhi Transport Department, Traffic Police, Divisional Commisoners (DC), District Magistrates (DM), Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) and the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC).
The rehearsal is of deployment of the enforcement agencies at respective places to implement the Odd-Even formula.
Even Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi on Twitter confirmed that there will be no dry-run of cars on 30 December.
Bassi also urged people not to misuse the exemption of medical emergency when the Odd-Even formula would be in place and clarified that a fine of Rs 2000 under section 194(1) of the Motor Vehicles Act, compounding powers under section 200(1) of the Act will be levied if the rule is not followed.
