DGP reviews security arrangements for PM visit

Bhubaneswar, Feb 5: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day visit to State was curtailed by a day today.

As per an official release from the Prime Minister’s Office, Modi will now arrive here on February 7 after attending a programme in Visakhapatnam to inaugurate the new campus of National Institute of Science Education and Research on the outskirts of the State capital and dedicate the Paradip refinery of Indian Oil Corporation in Paradip.

He is also scheduled to make a brief visit to Puri to offer obeisance to the Trinity at the Shree Mandir on that day.

Meanwhile, as many as 40 platoons of police will be deployed to ensure foolproof security during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) in Jatni, Khurda on February 7.

DGP KB Singh made the last minute review of the security arrangements for the visit of the Prime Minister to the State during his two-day visit.

Singh reviewed the security of the helipad and the stage prepared for Modi at the NISER and directed the deployment of an officer of Inspector General rank, four SP rank officers at the venue to avert any untoward incident.
