Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurates national programme for tracing oil and natural gas resources in Mahanadi basin

Balasore, Oct 12: As per the schedule, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan today inaugurated the national programme to track hydro-carbon resources in the Mahanadi basin at Taranga village under Khaira block in Balasore. In the inauguration ceremony, Prafulla Mallick, State Mines minister was also present.

As per the survey done by the scientists, huge quantum’s of natural resources is present in the area. For the survey work which began today to explore natural gas and oil reserves in the State, more than Rs 5000 crore will be spent, informed Pradhan while inaugurating the programmme.

He added that it would speed up the local economy and will also create job opportunities.

Pradhan further informed that the Centre has taken measures to create 2500 km long gas pipe line connection, costing Rs 13,000 that will be developed from Uttar Pradesh to Dhamra through Balasore-Bhadrak.

Besides, Rs 6000 crore will be spent by Dhamra Port Co. Ltd to develop terminals for handling Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and build containers at Dhamra Port in Bhadrak district.
