Distribution of digital ration card in 2nd phase of NFSA from today

Bhubaneswar, Oct 29: The distribution of digitised ration cards for the implementation of National Food Security Act (NFSA) in second phase is scheduled from today in 16 districts of Odisha.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will launch the ration cards from Baripada.

In the second phase the ration cards will be distributed to 52,88,681 families in remaining 16 districts – Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Puri, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Nabarangpur, Balasore, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Rayagada and Sundergarh. Around 2,01,79,605 crore beneficiaries will be benefitted under the national scheme.

In the first phase, 93.35 lakh beneficiaries of 26.33 lakh families were benefited in 14 districts such as Kandhamal, Angul, Sonepur, Bolangir, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Nuapada, Malkangiri, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Koraput, Boudh and Deogarh under the NFSA scheme.

The beneficiaries will get food grains at subsidised rate under the central scheme.

However, uncertainty still prevails over the supply of food grains at subsidised rate from November 1 as the beneficiaries in several districts are yet to get the ration cards in the first phase.
