Jaleswar, May 9: A tragic happening occurred yesterday night when an on duty Assistant Sub-inspector died on being hit by a truck from behind at Haladipada By pass here in Balasore. Identified Kuanra Majhi, the deceased ASI of Basta PS was busy in removing a stranded truck on the NH, following an accident, with the help of a crane. In the meanwhile a West Bengal numbered, potato-laden truck hit the ASI from behind, killing him on spot.
As of reports, two other staff, including the driver, also sustained injuries and were later admitted to the Balasore district headquarters hospital (DHH). The truck driver escaped while investigation has begun.
