Eastern Railway’s elaborate arrangement for Shravani Mela at Baidyanath Dham, Tarakeswar and Sultanganj

Kolkata: July 11: In a high level meeting today (11.7.2017) at Eastern Railway’s Headquarters, Fairlie Place, General Manager, Shri Harindra Rao, reviewed the arrangements made for Shravani Mela at Baidyanath Dham, Tarakeswar and Sultanganj under ER jurisdiction.

Eastern Railway has made elaborate arrangements for the pilgrimas of Shravani Mela at Baidyanath Dham under Asansol Division. GM advised to keep sufficient Safaiwalas (cleanliness staff) for keeping the station premises, platforms and trains and surrounding areas clean round-the-clock. A team of doctors should be made available to attend the immediate need of the pilgrims.

Scouts & Guides and Civil Defence volunteers in adequate number be asked to render services to help the pilgrims round-the-clock during the Mela period. He asked the operating department and Divisions, not to change the platforms for arrival & departures at the last minute. It is seen that the last minute changes creates chaotic situation among the passengers. Frequent announcements should be made through Public Address system, guiding the passengers regarding arrival & departure of trains. Pure drinking water should made available to the passengers. Toilets inside the trains, platforms, retiring rooms, waiting halls should be kept clean so that passengers should not be inconvenienced.

It may be mentioned here that 66 pairs of special trains will run in Asansol Division for Shravani Mela at Baidyanath Dham. Special trains will also be run between Sultanganj in Malda Division. Trains from Asansol, Patna, Sultanganj, Gaya, Saharsa, Raxual, Tatanagar and Jamalpur will run during the Mela period.

‘May I Help You’ booths with DoT phones at Jasidih and Baidyanath Dham stations to be arranged. CCTVs cameras and special security arrangements will be made by deploying personnel for guiding the passengers and crowd management. Ambulance services may be provided in co-ordination with the State Government and St. John’s ambulance. Similar arrangements will be made for Shravani Mela at Tarakeswar and Sultanganj for the convenience of the pilgrims.

In the meeting, General Manager has also asked the Divisions to make arrangements and take all precautionary measures during the monsoon time. Adequate drainage system, cleaning of trains, pumping out the excess deposited rain water at various places should be undertaken. Round-the-clock officer/senior supervisory staff will be available as Mela Officer during the Shravani Mela at all the three places under Eastern Railway jurisdiction. Punctuality of train running should also be closely monitored and informed through Public Address system and Plasma TVs installed during the Mela period. Sufficient illumination at Jasidih, Baidyanath Dham, Sultanganj and Tarakeswar stations should be made for the convenience of the pilgrims.

The entire arrangement should be reviewed keeping in view the necessity and demand of the situation for smooth functioning of the Division during the Mela period. 41 Mail/Express trains passing through Jasidih excepting Rajdhani, Jan Shatabdi and Poorva Express will stop extra time to facilitate the pilgrims.

All the four Divisional Railway Managers attended the meeting through Video Conferencing along with Principal Heads of the Departments of Eastern Railway.
