Bhubaneswar, Sept 14: After the incident of hurling eggs at Odisha Agricultural Minister, Pradeep Maharathy’s car by BJP activists on Tuesday, the BJD workers on Wednesday staged a road blocked near Pipili toll gate on Puri-Bhubaneswar national Highway (NH) following which, vehicular communication was paralyzed for around an hour.
However, after the discussion with the officials of the district administration, the workers withdrew the road blockade, sources informed.
It may be noted that, while Maharathy was on his way to Bolangir on Tuesday, his vehicle had stopped near the Sudapada level crossing. All of a sudden some BJP workers had hurled eggs at his car and had also shown black flags and shouted anti-government slogans. To avoid such incident further, the route was changed immediately.
As per the information, atleast 8 BJP activists were detained by the police in this connection.
Notably, on August 18, Maharathy had threatened that if he faces opposition in Bolangir, he would ensure that no union minister will get to visit Pipli and had dared BJP to try and oppose his visit to Bolangir.
Reacting to this, BJP activists of Bolangir along with its Mahila morcha on Tuesday warned off stiff opposition to Maharathy’s tour to Bolangir, if he continues his tour without an apology.
