BHUBANESWAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday emphasized the need for police forces adapting to the evolving landscape of national security, including the growing threats posed by digital frauds, cyber-crimes, and AI technologies.
He called for a strategic, meticulous, and transparent approach from the police force, urging them to realign with the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) during the 59th All India Conference of Director Generals and Inspector Generals of Police held in Bhubaneswar.
Highlighting the dangers of deepfake technology, which has the potential to disrupt social and familial relationships and urged law enforcement agencies to turn these challenges into opportunities.
He also stressed the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with India’s “Aspirational India” spirit to outpace emerging threats.
Modi urged the police forces to become more Strategic, Meticulous, Adaptable, Reliable, and Transparent and proposed the implementation of successful urban policing initiatives across the 100 largest cities in the country, with technology playing a central role in alleviating the workload on constables and improving operational efficiency.
The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of focusing on port security and urged the creation of future-focused action plans for safeguarding India’s borders.
The conference, which concluded on Sunday, also featured in-depth discussions on national security issues, including counter-terrorism, left-wing extremism, cybercrime, economic security, immigration, coastal security, and narco-trafficking. Notably, the security situations along India’s borders with Bangladesh and Myanmar were also examined.
