Kolkata, 14 July, 2017: For the benefit of the pilgrims of Shravani Mela, Eastern Railway has made elaborate arrangements at Sultanganj station. Round-the-clock deployment of huge security personnel, installation of 16 nos. of close- circuit cameras, setting up of RPF booths, opening of control room etc. at Sultanganj Station are among the security arrangements made for the devotees. A Mela Officer has been deputed and will work round-the-clock to help the pilgrims. Adequate water supply arrangements by providing additional taps with increasing pumping hours and provision of water tankers have been made to ensure round- the-clock drinking water supply.
Special care has been taken to ensure cleanliness at the station platforms, toilets and circulating area. Drainage system of Sultanganj Station has been improved and special toilet complex with separate blocks for the ladies and gents and the existing urinals located in the circulating area has been modernized. Moreover, arrangement of continuous announcement through the public address system and all type of signages, directional boards, indication boards etc. have been provided to make pilgrims more informative. It has been decided that during Sarvani Mela period, there will be no platform change for the safety of the passengers and all the passengers and mail/ Express trains passing through Sultanganj station will stop at the station. Mela shed is being thoroughly attended and sufficient lighting and fan arrangements have been made to ensure comfortable stay of the pilgrims. Arrangements of provision of sufficient food, in addition to arrangement made by IRCTC have been made for supply of healthy food to the passengers.
Round- the- clock medical assistance booth with two ambulances have been arranged at Sultanganj station to meet the medical exigency. Sufficient lighting arrangement in entire Sultanganj station premises has been arranged. For comfortable movements of the pilgrims, 4 pairs of special trains between Jamalpur & Jasidih, Saharsha & Bhagalpur, Gorakhpur & Deoghar and Rajendranagar & Sahibganj have been provided by this railway.
