Family of 10 Trapped Laborers in Saudi Arabia, Seek for Govt’s Help for Their Return

Berhampur, May 9: Today the family of at least 10 laborers, who are kidnapped in Saudi Arabia and are being tortured and exploited and are even getting life threats every now and then, urged the intervention of the State Government and the Ganjam district administration to rescue them. To a total of 24 laborers residing in various blocks of Ganjam had gone to Saudi five months back by the help of an agent from Andhra Pradesh. Since then they have been reportedly working in Al Riyadh Construction Company. However, it has been alleged that after getting 2 months’ wage, their passports have been seized and are being exploited and also given life threats. Hence, family of 10 labourers from Tambuda village under Mathasarsingh and S Sachina panchayats of Beguniapara block of Ganjam have asked the government’s intervention for their kins’ safe return. The Begunia BDO has informed that he will intimidate the Collector about the same.
