First Meeting of unified command of Odisha chaired by CS Padhi in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar, Mar 30: Today the unified command of Odisha met to discuss the current Maoist situation in the state. It also took stock of the various underlying coordination issues between various agencies involved in anti-Naxal operations. Chief Secretary AP Padhi chaired this first meeting of the year. Officials of state police including DGP, and personnel of other central agencies like BSF, CRPF and Intelligence Bureau were present during the meeting.

Padhi stated to media that said at the meeting, discussions were held on coordination issues between the state and central agencies. Over the past four months, there have been improvements in infrastructure especially in terms of logistics inside camps. Apart from the Sunki Ghat blast incident, there is been a decline in Maoist violence and activities. During the recently concluded Panchayat polls, instances of Maoist violence were also far less as compared to previous elections. Besides, Gurupriya Bridge in Malkangiri will finally be completed that would enhance connectivity in the remote areas and will also be helpful in improving security operations.

Police DG KB Singh informed to media that discussions on various operational and administrative matters were conducted such as on infra, road connectivity and communication. Joint operations, deployment of forces, sharing of intelligence between different states and central agencies were also discussed during the meeting.
