Puri, Nov 14: Five persons were killed when a jeep in which they were travelling fell off a bridge near Malatipatapur in this district on saturday.
The mishap occurred when the vehicle which was on its way to Bhubaneswar from Konark fell off the bridge after breaking its railings, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Puri Sadar) Alekha Pahi said.
All the five occupants including the driver of the vehicle were killed in the mishap, he said.
Police rushed to the spot and the bodies were retrieved from the badly mangled vehicle. The mishap was believed to have occurred due to thick fog that enveloped the area in the early hours.
Efforts are on to ascertain the identity of the deceased who were aged between 30 and 45 years, he said.
