Five Lakh more construction workers to be covered under various welfare schemes by Odisha Govt:

Bhubaneswar: September 14: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik stressed upon to register as well as cover Five Lakh new construction workers under various welfare schemes by end of financial year 2017-18. He reviewed the status of implementation of various schemes meant for the construction workers today at State Secretariat and asked officials to ensure that all eligible workers must get government benefits meant for them. It was decided in the meeting to spend at least 500 crores in the current financial year towards different welfare schemes meant for construction workers.
Of the 20 lakh construction workers registered with Odisha construction welfare board, over 8.6 lakh workers have been covered under various welfare schemes, said an official statement issued by the chief minister’s office. Chief Minister asked to actively implement welfare programmes in places like Balasore, Jagatsinghpur, Sambalpur, Mayurbhanj and Cuttack.
The registered construction workers in Odisha are currently receiving benefits like monthly pension, scholarship for their children, financial assistance for higher education, daughter’s marriage and assistance up to Rs 3 lakh for treatment of critical diseases like nervous disorders, cardiovascular diseases, kidney problems, cancer and orthopaedic disorders.
