Kendrapara, Aug 16: More than 50,000 country birds consisting of around 11 species of herons, grey cranes, little cormorants and king-fisher in large numbers have thronged to Bhitarakanika National Park here. It’s stated that the number of birds is likely to increase in the coming days.
Meanwhile, forest department has formed a special squad under Kanika range to keep a check on poaching of birds. Notably, the national park witnesses the footfall of a huge number of country birds with the coming of rainy season. Last year it was 94,437 birds which had flocked to the park.
