Bhubaneswar, Aug 9: Senior BJP leader Bijay Mohapatra on Tuesday said the recently proposed Joint Control Board on Mahanadi water between the Odisha Government and the Chhattisgarh Government will not be able to safeguard the interest of Odisha as it is not backed by any law and is purely advisory in nature.
However, he demanded immediate formation of a River Board to resolve Mahanadi water row between Odisha and Chhattisgarh and also said that the State Government should place a demand before the Union Government for formation of River Board.
The BJP leader further said that if the River Board, which is backed by a central act, fails to resolve the issue, the matter can be referred to a tribunal.
