Former Minister Ananta Das Passes Away

Bhubaneswar: Former Minister and BJD MLA Ananta Das passed away at the age of 85 on Sunday morning around 3.30 am. He breathed his last following a prolonged illness at his Bhubaneswar based residence.

He was an MLA from the Bhogarai block of Balasore district. He was born on August 28, 1940 in Kurutia village under Balim Gram Panchayat in the same district. He was elected as the MLA for four terms from the Bhogarai constituency. He held the portfolio of Higher Education and Industries Minister in the Naveen Patnaik government in 2014.

He worked as the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Bhadrak. After his superannuation, he joined politics and won from BJD ticket in 2004.

The whole state is mourning the demise of the legendary leader.
