Puri, Oct 6: Yesterday the Odisha CM, Naveen Patnaik inaugurated a number of projects and laid foundation stones for around 37 projects across Puri while on a day-long tour of the district. Also a fire station, an anganwadi center and a healthcare center was inaugurated among the other projects in Kakatpur Assembly constituency. Then Patnaik went on a tour of Brahmagiri constituency, where also he laid foundation stones for various projects. It’s stated that at a special function, he facilitated loans of Rs 2.95 crore to 32 fisheries cooperative societies in the constituency. Besides, 240 students from fishermen’s families were given scholarships worth Rs 92,000. Unfortunately, a 67 year-old woman, who was at the Chief Minister’s meet in Kakatpur, fell sick during the event and later died of heart attack while undergoing treatment.
Although the injury on her finger was supposedly to be due to a snakebite, Doctor Binay Kumar Panda, who treated her, confirmed the death reason to be heart attack. As many as 2000 senior citizens gathered for the event at the spot from early as 8 am although the meet was scheduled to happen in the afternoon. Adequate drinking water facilities were also not arranged for the villagers.
